When you choose Owens Corning roofing products, you get products and systems that deliver a material difference such as the Patented SureNail Technology which features a wide, highly visible engineered fabric strip in the nailing area, ensuring a consistent and quality installation.

This unique design provides outstanding gripping power.

Why does it matter? The way your shingles are fastened to the roof deck is crucial for their long-term performance. Our Duration Series shingles excel in the nailing zone, where it matters most. Unlike competitive shingles with a wide, single-layer nailing zone, our Duration Series shingles feature Triple Layer Protection in the nailing zone. This provides exceptional resistance to high winds, helps prevent water infiltration and keeps the shingle layers from separating during and after installation. Our testing proves it.

Don’t be fooled by the hype – the proof is in the performance. Duration Series shingles are the proven smart choice.

Proven performance in the nail zone

We put the rest to the test. Owens Corning architectural shingles offer greater integrity and better holding power on the roof to protect your home. When our Duration Series shingles are tested against competing products in three critical areas, the results are impressive. Our products outperform in resistance to nail pull-through, nail blow-through and delamination.

Test 1: Nail pull-through resistance

This test simulates the wind force required to pull the shingles off a roof deck. Shingles with higher nail pull-through resistance offer better protection against high winds.

Test 2: Nail blow-through resistance

This test measures the number of nails that are over-driven when using the same nail gun pressure. Over-driven nails require additional nails for secure fastening, which means more holes in your roof deck.

Test 3: Delamination resistance

This test evaluates the shingles’ ability to resist layer separation when heated to 82 C (180 F). Shingle delamination can negatively impact roof performance and aesthetics.
